How is teen parenthood different than I thought it would be?

Everyone growing up always told me how hard being a teenage mom would be, but no one ever warned me about the strain and struggles it would put on my relationship with the baby’s father. We thought we had it all figured out, but we were surprised to discover that getting pregnant just stressed us out even more. Not only that but I was so sick my whole pregnancy. Some people get morning sickness but I was sick 24 hours a day, seven days a week, almost the whole nine months. I brought ziploc baggies with me everywhere because I would get sick in the car. It was not fun! I love my son and I would not trade him for ANYTHING in this whole world, but being a teen mom is so much different than I thought it would be.

Did it ever occur to me that i might become pregnant as a teen?

I knew a few girls in school that became pregnant and I even had a friend in high school who had a baby but I didn’t think I would be “one of those girls.” I thought I was smarter than that. I always had the mindset that it would never happen to me. I never in a million years thought I would be a teen mom. I always thought it only happened to the “easy” girls, but that’s not always the case.

Why do I want to share my story with other teens?

I want to share my story with other teens because there are many young people that believe having a baby is easy and fun. Some teens think they are in love or they like the idea of having someone love them. Others just don’t have the knowledge of birth control or are scared to get it for fear their parents will find out. These teens have no idea what they are signing up for. Sure having a baby is a blessing, but all in good time, once you have received a college degree, are making your own money and have a stable relationship. Having a child as a teen is stressful no matter what – even if you have family support – and children deserve to be born into the best environment possible.

CAM00826[1]CAM00814[1]

Hi, my name is Malisa and I have a 9 month old baby boy name Adrian. I was in my sophomore year of high school when i got pregnant. I didnt find out i was pregnant until i was 4 months pregnant. I never thought i would be pregnant at a young age because I had many plans my last  few years in high school but having a baby was definitely not on of them.It changed everything: friends, college plans and future dreams. I went from being the outgoing 16 year old with many friends, to a 17 year old who never left the house.

Playing older video games have a beautiful simplicity to them, They are easy to understand for the most part, and easy to play. The goal is clear the controls are easy to understand, and you can pick up the game whenever and continue without huge repercussions, This doesn’t go for every game but a lot them are like this.
With newer games i feel like if i don’t play them for a long time Ill completely forget whats happening in the story, forget the controls or some of its features. Older games feel more complete than newer ones because everything the developers wanted in the game they put in it, With newer games the have dlc which is downloadable content, dlc is content that the developers want you to pay extra money for to put in the game. With older games dlc is non-existent. With newer games you spend so much money, first you buy the game which is around

sixty dollars, then you have to buy the dlc which is as expensive as the game. This is why i think Old or retro games are so much better.

Popular Culture

This year, I’m teaching a new class called Popular Culture.  In keeping with the theme of this course, students will be creating and maintaining a weekly blog sharing their thoughts about the class and pop culture in general.  It’s exciting, really – there’s a LOT going on today that we can discuss.  I wonder where that will take us…?
